School of Nursing
The School of Nursing provides programs that prepare students to administer nursing care to individuals, families, and communities. These programs are responsive not only to the needs of a diverse society, but also to the rapidly changing health care environment.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program is for students who wish to provide direct nursing care to patients of all ages with common health needs and problems. The ASN program prepares students to continue their education in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
Associate of Science in Nursing for the Licensed Practical Nurse (ASN) provides students who are licensed practical nurses opportunities to earn credit by examinations for selected ASN courses.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is for students who wish to provide direct nursing care to individuals of all ages, to their families, and communities. Students are also prepared to be in leadership/managment positions. The BSN program prepares students to continue their education in a Masters of Science in Nursing program.
RNBSN track (BSN) is for students who have completed a diploma nursing program or an associate degree in nursing program. Credit for courses taken and accelerated courses are offered.
Accelerated Master's Program (AMP) is designed for career changers who wish to become nurses with specialization in Nursing and Health Systems Leadership. AMP is for students who have received a bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing. this is an accelerated full-time program.
Nurse Management Certificate is designed to provide nurse professionals (BSN) the opportunity to gain management skills necessary to assume leadership roles in today's complex, health-related organizations. This 12 month, 10 credit hour certificate accepts students each semester and is held on-line.
Clinical Educator Certificate is for students that hold a BSN and want to focus on education of nurses and health care professionals in the clinical area. This is a 9 credit hour certificate that is completed in 12 months and may be started during any semester. All courses are on-line.
Master of Science in Nursing program builds on knowledge and competencies of the BSN degree. Students are prepared for expanded roles and are provided a foundation for doctoral studies. The following tracks are available:
Post Master's programs are offered in most of MSN concentrations.
Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP)
Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP) is planned to begin May 2011.
