Koval Nursing Center
Philosophy
Consistent with the philosophy of the University of Indianapolis
and the School of Nursing, the Koval Nursing Center contributes
to development of the student as a total person. Faculty
believe the Nursing Center addresses the future demands for
nursing practice by providing primary health care experiences
for nursing students.
Based on faculty beliefs about the nature of nursing, human beings,
and health, the Koval Nursing Center contributes to the goal
of professional nursing by assisting human being as individuals,
groups, and communities toward optimal health.
Mission
The mission of the Koval Nursing Center is to provide contemporary,
primary health care opportunities for student learning and faculty
practice.
The Koval Nursing Center is based on the faculty’s belief
that the professional nurse-client partnership is an effective
approach to address the health care needs of individuals, groups,
and communities.
Health Services
Faculty along with their students participate in a variety
of health promotion, health protection and screening forearly
detection clinical nursing interventions. Students may be in the
Graduate program, in the BSN program at the sophomore, junior,
or senior levels, or in the ASN program. Examples of the nursing
services that occur regularly are mentioned below.
Community groups, such as schools, churches and workplaces, partner
with the Koval Nursing Center. The community groups receive
nursing services they need and value while the School of
Nursing experiences opportunities for clinical practice for
nursing students and faculty.
