RNBSN Track (BSN)

Advantages of earning a BSN degree
A BSN degree will provide many more job opportunities for you and, consequently, will assist you in meeting your career goals. You will receive knowledge and skills related to individuals, families, and communities in health care settings other than acute care. You also will learn how to remain current through the reading and evaluation of research studies. BSN experiences will enhance your skills and knowledge in the area of leadership and management. Finally, a BSN degree prepares you to continue your education in a master’s of nursing program.

The BSN program at U of I
The RNBSN track has a student-centered curriculum based on adult education principles. Students are provided opportunities to build upon previous knowledge, clinical (practicum) experiences, and education. Students are actively engaged in the learning process. Practicum experiences are planned on an individual basis for most courses.

Fitting coursework into your work schedule
The theory portions of the classes are conducted on consecutive Thursday evenings. The practicum experiences will be precepted experiences held during class time or scheduled to fit the student’s schedule. Many practicum experiences can be completed in the student’s work setting.

Time required to complete degree requirements
The BSN program at the University of Indianapolis offers the nursing courses in a 12-month accelerated format (course listing). Liberal arts and support courses can be completed in a traditional semester format or on an accelerated format through the University’s School for Adult Learning. Total length of the program will depend on what courses have been completed by the student prior to admission to the University.
